A valid passport and tourist visa are required to visit Tanzania.

Passport Requirements:

Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Tanzania, with at least two adjacent blank passport pages available for Tanzania visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for a Tanzanian visa.


Tanzania Visa Application Form:

The Consulate of Tanzania requires a visa application be completed according to strict guidelines. Make sure your documentation is accurately prepared by making use of Document Preparation Service. After placing your order, you will receive an Application Kit which includes an optional form where you can provide simple answers. If you choose this service a Specialist will work with you to ensure the required documents are prepared according to government and consular requirements. Photo Requirements:

Two recent, identical, 2 x 2 passport photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.

OR - you can upload a photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.


Proof of Travel Arrangements:

Computer generated itinerary from airline or travel agency, or copy of transportation tickets showing entry and departure from Tanzania.

New York: If the applicant is traveling as part of a tour and/or safari they must submit the inland itinerary from that tour/safari organizer.


Hotel Confirmation:

New York: Copy of confirmed hotel reservations. If staying in various hotels, please provide copies of each reservation.


Applicants Under the Age of 18:

Visa applications for minors under 18 years, should be accompanied with a notarized letter, jointly signed by parents or legal guardians approving the minor to travel.


Medical Requirements:

Applicants arriving from a yellow fever risk area or applicants who transited through such an area for more than 12 hours must provide a yellow fever certificate.


Special Instructions:

VISA ON ARRIVAL: It is possible for the applicant to obtain a visa upon arrival. Visa requirements and restrictions vary greatly when obtaining an on arrival visa. Tanzania immigration officials hold the right to refuse entry to anyone for any reason. Travisa strongly recommend that the traveler obtain a visa prior to departure. Should the applicant choose to obtain a visa upon arrival, inquire with your airline if boarding is allowed without a visa.

New York: Travelers visiting Tanzania for the purpose of game hunting, hunting safaris, etc. must submit a copy of their hunting permit issued by the Tanzanian government along with their application materials. The consulate does not assist with obtaining a permit. You must possess a permit prior to submitting your application.

Visa Validity:

A Tanzanian visa is generally valid for 3 months from date of issuance at the discretion of the Tanzanian Consulate.
